Western Conference Regular Season Predictions Empty Western Conference Regular Season Predictions

As Promised here are my Western Conference Predictions

DET Detroit Red Wings DET Detroit is a team that is at the top of the standings year after year. This year will be no different with the same veterans running the show and Jimmy Howard being a year older and smarter. Should be no problem to be at the top of the West

SJ San Jose Sharks SJ The sharks have made a few off season acquisitions that have possibly bolstered their lineup. They have the power line of Heatley - Thornton - Marleau however we all saw how that did in the playoffs. The Sharks will be at the top of the conference but expect them to fall of a little depending on how their goaltending situation arises.

VAN Vancouver Canucks VAN Vancouver is no doubt going to take the Northwest division once again. The Sedin brothers have showed they are elite players and with Roberto Luongo in net they are going to be a strong team. But will they be able to get in done in the playoffs?

CHI Chicago Blackhawks CHI The Blackhawks are the defending Stanley Cup champions. They have traded away however a few key pieces in the offseason. They made a trade with the Philadelphia which was more of a depth move for the Hawks. The still have the same core as last seasons cup winning team however A lot depends on the teams shaky goaltending to get them through the season and into the playoffs.

LA Los Angeles Kings LA Los Angeles has an extremely young team. They have a great young core of defense that is up and coming. They have three goalies who could potentially be their starters. This team is on the rise and with the play of veterans Dustin Brown and Ryan Smyth helping this young team they are ready to compete.

CGY Calgary Flames CGY The Flames have been a disappointing team to watch over the past couple seasons. This year is going to be different though. With Captain Jarome Iginla leading the way and Kipper shutting the door the Flames will be back in the playoffs after being absent last season.

CBS Columbus Blue Jackets CBS The Blue Jackets made a very significant deal in the off season to bring in Star two way player Jordan Staal and Stanley Cup and Gold Medal winning goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. With these additions Staal gets to play as a number 1 Centre alongside the likes of Rick Nash. This Columbus team just got a little better and might be a Cinderella team.

DAL Dallas Stars DAL The Stars did nothing to help out their team in the off season but that shouldn't make a big difference. They are a strong team and have some very promising young players who will be ready to step it up this season. Teams better not underestimate the Dallas Stars or they might be in for trouble.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

ANA Anaheim Ducks ANA The Ducks are on the outside looking in this year because of the questionable trades they made during the off season. Trading away star Centre Ryan Getzlaf for Dany Heatley what was the GM thinking. Anaheim already had a solid wingers when they acquired Alexander Semin. The got worse with those trades they made and with their already inexperienced blue line this team it will be a long year. They are ranked 9th because they have Jonas Hiller who will win them some games.

NSH Nashville Predators NSH Nashville is a team on the rise. They are moving towards a younger core and have the most promising blue line I have seen in years. They won't be too far off from the playoffs but they are just to young and inexperienced to squeeze in. Look our for this team in the coming years.

STL St.Louis Blues STL St.Louis has been rebuilding for the past couple seasons and the rebuild continues. They made a step in the right direction by adding proven Winner Corey Perry to their lineup but the young team is another year or two away from the playoffs.

MIN Minnesota Wild MIN The Wild are not looking so good this season. They don't have much offense after Mikko Koivu and with Oft Injured Martin Havlat, Koivu won't be able to carry the workload himself. Niklas Backstrom is one of few bring spots the team can look forward to this upcoming season.

PHO Phoenix Coyotes PHO Phoenix is a young team who is playing their younger players. Last season they made the playoffs and put up a good battle however they are going to take a step back down to reality this season. Kyle Turris is going to be a player to look out for if he can reach his potential this season. Phoenix won't bring that much trouble though to other teams this season.

COL Colorado Avalanche COL The Avalanche gave San Jose a bit of a scare last season in the first round and I know many think what is the reason for the big drop off. Well last season they exceeded expectations and players played beyond what anyone could ever think of them. This year with the heavy Western Conference the Avs will just be in too much trouble night after night.

EDM Edmonton Oilers EDM Edmonton Fans should be extremely excited to see Taylor Hall in action for the first time this season. That is all they should be excited for. Well at least this season there is no second thoughts, Adam Larson your right in line to be an Edmonton Oiler.
